Consider Applying to Serve on a Citizen Board or Committee!

Are you interested in being more involved within your community and playing a role in the decision-making of your local government?  Consider applying to serve on one of the City’s many citizen boards and committees! The volunteers who serve on these bodies use their expertise and knowledge to review issues, provide guidance, and recommend policies that improve the community.

At their meeting on May 2, 2022, the Augusta City Council will approve appointments to fill openings on several of these boards and committees. The City boards and committees that will have openings to fill are the Airport Advisory Board, Convention and Tourism Bureau, Augusta Housing Authority, Public Library Board, Main Street Design Committee, Park Advisory Board, and Planning Commission.

If you are interested in filling a seat on any of these boards, please fill out this online application or pick up and fill out a paper application at the City Utility Office to be considered. In addition to submitting the form, it is recommended that you contact Mayor Mike Rawlings to express your interest. If you are applying for the Park Advisory Board specifically, you should instead contact the Councilmembers for the ward you reside in to express your interest. You can find contact information for the Mayor and eight City Councilmembers on the City’s website.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit the online application by Friday, April 22, 2022.
