Reminder: It's Time for Your Irrigation System Inspection!

The City of Augusta wants to ensure all citizens have access to safe, clean drinking water. An important step towards achieving this goal is to confirm water being used for irrigation systems does not mix with contaminants such as pesticides and fertilizers that could “back flow” into the City’s water distribution system. Every citizen who has an irrigation system connected to the City’s water system is required to have a working backflow device. All backflow prevention devices, including pressure-vacuum breakers, connected to the public water supply are required to be inspected annually.

Inspections must be completed by an irrigation professional licensed with the City of Augusta. The City charges a $10 fee to the contractor for each backflow inspection. Inspections must be completed and submitted to the Community Development Office before April 30, 2022, to prevent a disruption to water service.

Thank you for your cooperation and prompt attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please call Susan in the Community Development Office (316) 775-4505. Irrigation systems connected to private wells are exempt from the annual inspection requirement.
