At the April 5, 2021 Council meeting the governing body approved Charter Ordinance No. 18 exempting the City from the provisions of K.S.A. 12-1651, providing substitute and additional provisions which relate to the official naming of an official newspaper. The Charter Ordinance also stated that the governing body shall designate, by resolution, the City of Augusta’s website (www.augustaks.org) as the official city newspaper. The Charter Ordinance took effect 61 days after final publication. No petition was received and it has been more than 61 days since final publication on April 17th, so the Charter Ordinance is now in effect.  On July 6, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution 2021-08 officially designating the city website as the official city newspaper for legal notices that do not require publication in a newspaper of general circulation.  All notices meeting this definition will be published on this page.
